I was just pondering the different ways to create a neighborhood.

You can do it outward ---> in, or you can do it inward ---> out.

In the first case, you start with the big themes and institutions, and then fill in the needed roles with sims. In the second case, you start with one  family, one lot, or even  one sim, and then work your way out by defining the world they live in.

I think I prefer the second, but it seems like it's tempting to do the first.

I want a themed neighborhood, but I've been really uninspired lately. I have my old Prosperity neighborhood, but it's on it's 8th generation and just not that interesting anymore, and there are too many sims to really care about. I've been really considering starting some kind of themed neighborhood where aging and generations wouldn't really happen. I guess I just want some ideas. What's everyone doing?

Also, hi, I'm new. My online name is Bebe and I've been a Sims 2 addict for about three years now.

I played Castaways and it's exactly what I want, but the game is too limited. I want the same thing in Sims 2 with all EPs, custom content, etc. What's stopping me is basically not being able to make it look right. Is there a way to get rid of roads, for example? Community phones, trashcans, mailboxes, etc?

Mostly because the stupid neighborhood just doesn't LOOK space-y enough.

Is anyone else stuck on the "custom content collecting" phase?

I haven't played Sims 2 in about three months due to being severely bored. Legacy caused that. Doing one thing over and over just finally got to me.

I've been playing Sims Life Stories (all three) but it isn't the same thing.

I've wanted a real story neighborhood for ages, but it's just so daunting. I don't know where to start and I'm afraid I'll spend ages on it and it'll be crap because I don't know what I'm doing.

I want a small farming town type of neighborhood, sort of like Avonlea in Anne of Green Gables (or better yet, in the tv series Road to Avonlea).

Like I said... no idea where to start.

I've actually been trying to set up a realistic neighborhood, but I haven't been able to play in months and plus I've run into a problem. I know a lot of people turn aging off completely, but I want them to age... just very slowly. I've been trying to come up with a system of how many days should be in a year, but there's that annoying pregnancy thing.

Is there a hack that adds days to pregnancy? That would solve a lot of my problems.

I'm really looking forward to talking with everyone and seeing what others are doing.
